Trucker country stole the show at the WFNM showcase at Hotel Ziggy. Dylan Andrews was playing his third WFNM showcase night. If I understood correctly, this was the first of those three sets where the majority of the songs were his own. No matter if I heard correctly or not, I was caught up in his country charm from the start. He's putting together a catalog of songs that are just waiting to get released in a debut EP or album.

If this night were at Grand Ole Echo or Americana Joy, couples would have been two-stepping throughout the set. There might not have been any two-stepping going on, but there was still fun choreographed dancing as a trio of friends showed off their high kicking abilities.

As the set barreled towards a conclusion, Magdalena Christiansen joined him on stage and the duo showed off their love of 70s music by doing two covers -- one by Gram Parsons and the other by Bill Withers. It was a too hot to handle duo, because when the band concluded the night with his "Those Hills" song, the lights in the venue blew out. In ran the sound / lights guy to fix the situation. Was it a fluky glitch or a response to the music? Let's just go with the lights over-heated due to the music. The song allowed his organist (who was off to the far side) take command.

The Song Spotlight goes to his first release "One Beer." Is there a better country theme then beer and personal relationship failings? His short Spotify bio does say, "Just being honest. Venice, California."
And I know you've had it up to here, my dear.
The song ended with him taking one last sip of beer.
Setlist: Weekend, One Beer, Whatever Did I Mean, Ready To Be, Ooh Las Vegas (Gram Parsons cover), Use Me (Bill Withers cover), Those Hills.
