The duo of Jeffertitti and Chloe Kat charm at Hotel Cafe

It was off to Hotel Cafe on a Wednesday night to cover a Lisa Crawley single release party for her song "What You Can Do." I wrote up an article for US Rocker Music with a Q&A that you can read here. The night included the opening duo of Jeffertitti and Chloe Kat. This was my first time seeing Chloe Kat on stage (I believe, always possible I've seen her as part of a backing band) though I'm rather sure I've seen her around town. As for Jeffertitti Moon, well, what long time Los Angeles music fan hasn't crossed paths with Jeffertitti?

My first time catching Jeffertitti was in early 2018 at the Echoplex. That was one awesome line-up of singers and bands. Lauren Ruth Ward was doing a Monday night residency. Opening up the night for me (I might have missed the opener) was, I believe, Rett Madison who at the time performed under her name Madison Douglas. A band that not many may recall called Gypsum played. They were a favorite band of mine. Though those reading this blog post may not remember that band, you may be familiar with some of the band members. Rosie Tucker was part of the band though she later left the band to go solo. Also in the band was Sapphire Jewell who tours with illuminati hotties.

Jeffertitti played the night as part of the band The Entire Universe. If you go to their Instagram page, you'll see that they only have 60 posts. Twelve of those posts is dedicated to a massive photo that I took of Jeffertitti leaping high at Zebulon.

One of Chloe Kat's projects in the Los Angeles music scene is running the singer-songwriter Tuesday night showcase called Soft Spot with Rainee Blake. I've crossed paths with Blake a couple of times and so perhaps that is how I recognize her.

For Hotel Cafe, Jeffertitti and Chloe Kat played a 20 minute-ish set. Most of the short set was dedicated to each playing their own songs with the other providing backing vocals and guitar. Throughout all these years, Jeffertitti still has the best facial expressions of any Los Angeles musician. And when he especially loved a performance of a song of his, he gave himself a clap and encouraged the packed venue to join in the cheers.

Their final song of the night was a brand new song that the two of them mentioned was waiting for a music video to be made so that it could reach the Internet. It is a real stunner of a song. The two give Bob Dylan / Joan Baez vibes. Their vocals during the song interplayed with such love. The quiet melody of the chorus sent chills up the spine. The song ended with their vocals trailing to silence and replaced with the cheers of the crowd. The two exchanged a fist bump to conclude the night (though Chloe Kat did join in as a special guest during Lisa Crawley's set).

To find the things you never felt before.
I can't hold it back anymore.
Path that is leading us to love.

What was the song title? Shoot, I didn't catch it, but keep an eye out for that song in the future.

Jeffertitti will be playing Townhouse in Venice on June 19th. Chloe Kat doesn't have any current dates in Los Angeles, but does curate the Soft Spot.
