Since 2018, I've always put the Long Beach's Happy Sundays festival on my calendar. The organizers of the festival (wife-husband team of Julia Kugel and Scott Montoya) recently announced the first set of bands for this year's edition, which will take place over the weekend of August 23rd - 24th. If you weren't aware, starting last year, the festival expanded to a two day festival.
All shows are free to the public and are all ages except for the 21+ bars (Alex's Bar and Port City Tavern).
The event is sponsored by Studios For Schools!, Janice Hahn, Port of Long Beach, and Zaferia Business Association.
Here are a handful of bands that I am eager to catch (hopefully there are no set time conflicts):
Death Hymn #9. I have not seen this band in . . . well, I guess we should skip that topic.
I covered both Julez & the Rollerz and Buckets in 2023 for US Rocker Music when Julez & the Rollerz was celebrating their EP "Is This Where The Party Is?"
As some of you know, I put this blog site on a long hiatus. When I decided to post again, I started it off with PAGOTO and their "7989" record release party.
Self Improvement played the festival last year and made an impression.
