I first came across Shi La Rosa via her band Drugs Cosmetics. It was 2022 and it was a WFNM night at the Black Rose. Almost three years in the past. Time flies. I was still shooting shows with my Canon 5D Mark IV. I've since upgraded to a Canon R5. And the Black Rose shined bright and then shut down. We had a very hot hot summer in 2022 and would you know it, the air conditioning went out. They had portable power fans blasting air through the venue for the summer, but that didn't really help matters. I felt super old on those particularly hot summer nights. I usually have no problem standing around throughout a music night, but on those nights I would find myself needing to sit during the middle of a set. Anyways, the venue shut down shortly afterwards. I was told that the Black Rose would have needed to shell out six figures to fix the air conditioning and they just didn't have that type of money.

I saw the band 3 times in 2023, because the band was just too much fun. Shi La Rosa knew how to put on a stage performance. Their music had a dance beat. The songs had those Madonna sex drenched lyrics. Their friends and fans always showed up in force. It was just an energizing experience for a photographer.
I randomly crossed paths with a member of the band, Pete Cho at an early 2024 Push-Up Bra LA event that was hosted by Zealyn. He mentioned that the band was working on some new material. I figured when the new material was done, they would pop up at a WFNM. Apparently, that project has ended; however, while scanning through WFNM's Instagram page in 2025 I noticed that Shi La Rosa was playing a Feb 6th set at Bar Lubitsch. I circled the date, but when the date arrived, I got worried about my ability to attend. Work was a disaster in terms of hours. Luckily, I learned that Shi La Rosa wasn't going on stage until 9 p.m. Now the only issue was avoiding getting into a car accident as I made my way to the venue through a much needed rain storm.

While scanning through her Instagram, I learned that she hadn't performed on stage for a year and a half, which meant I probably did see one of the last sets of Drugs Cosmetics. Now one never really knows if an artists decides to just go in a totally different direction when going solo. Her Instagram page didn't seem to imply any change of direction, but one never knows. I was happy to learn that it was the same energizing set. When she wasn't pleased with her friends and fans, she called them out, "You guys shy. I thought you guys had juicier pussies. Come on, are you guys scared?" That got everyone in the venue dancing. At one point, a friend came up to the front of the stage and kissed Shi La Rosa's hand. There was a big smile on stage.

The song spotlight "Want It All" is her latest release. She introduced the song by saying, "This is a PSA. This song came out today." She waited a moment for the screams and yells of approval. "So welcome to my party even if you didn't know. You're here now. It's called 'Want It All.' It's about hot girls. Let's just kick it. Feel free to vogue."

The song has a heavy dance beat that had her dancing from the start and flinging her long hair. Then she got the crowd screaming and dancing when she went walking into the crowd like a fashion model. She interrupted the song a couple times by holding conversations. After returning to the stage from her fashion walk, she told the audience, "A bit more moshing. I want to see some heads flying." Then later in the song after the lyrics, "My f*cking shoes, I bought on eBay," she looked at the audience and said, "I literally bought a new pair of shoes today." She's a dance star.
