Matt Axton was celebrating his birthday at Bigfoot Lodge during the monthly Americana Joy music showcase. Coming in for the festivities was Grammy nominated George Ducas. His nomination came for co-writing the song "Beer Run (B Double E Double Are You In?)" for Garth Brooks and George Jones that got nominated for the Best Country Collaboration with Vocals category.

The venue was packed for his set. His country tunes had people dancing in front of the stage. It was a tight space, but people managed to get their country steps in. Ducas also had a rather tight space to perform in -- especially with three other band members -- but he put on an entertaining performance with the visual flare of swinging his guitar in various directions while playing. He'd also stroll (took a couple steps) towards his band mates and played a few musical bars during the interaction. He did a few cool guitar battles with his lead guitarist to his left.

He enjoyed the audience reaction to his set, giving praise to the Los Angeles country fanbase. He mentioned that he'll be playing Los Angeles more often.
With two necklaces (a double ring and a bar pendant) layered around his neck, he entertained the crowd with a thirteen song set that mixed his own songs, which included the aforementioned "Beer Run," as well as four covers. During the summer, he released an album called Long Way From Home and he played three songs off that album. He also played what is probably his most popular song "Lipstick Promises."

To close out the set, he took a step out into the audience. With his guitar disconnected from the amplifier, he watched with a smile as his band closed out the night.
Of the three songs from Long Way From Home, I'd say "Drifter" was my favorite. The country vocals with a delayed Texas drawl provide an entertaining slow roll out of his tune about his traveling lifestyle as a musician and his warning to female lovers that long term relationships are likely out of the picture.
Better know before you kiss me
That when the urge hits me
The only promise I can make is goodbye
